Standout Tracks
While every track on this compilation holds weight, these standout tracks are immediate favorites:
“Medusa” – Baby Kush
With her debut single on Bass n Babes Records, Baby Kush delivers a sultry, bass-heavy journey. “Medusa” is haunting and hypnotic, drawing listeners into a soundscape inspired by the mythological Gorgon. Here, fear and allure co-exist; the dreamy textures invite you in just as the gritty bass keeps you on edge. Layered production meets mythic narrative, and the result is magnetic. It’s a seductive opener and a powerful artistic statement.

“icy” – HerShe, Kurei
Following closely is “icy”, a fierce and energetic collab from HerShe and Kurei. As soon as it drops, it feels like the unofficial theme song for the Bass n Babes movement. With HerShe’s dynamic beatboxing and infectious flow riding effortlessly over Kurei’s playful, punchy production, the vibe is unstoppable. As expected from Kurei, the track is sassy, confident, and undeniably c*nty—setting the tone for dance floors and self-expression alike. Midway through the compilation, “icy” lifts the energy and perfectly anchors the momentum.

“Love Him” – Lex Looper
Next up is Lex Looper with “Love Him,” a deeply personal yet universally resonant track that speaks volumes. Previously featured on last week’s NMF, it’s no surprise this one remains in rotation. The track honors Looper’s journey through gender transition, wrapped in a powerful mix of UK bass, garage, and dubstep. Every element of the production carries intention, offering a bold glimpse into the future of queer bass music. Genre-blending and emotionally potent, it’s a clear standout.

“Menace Beach” – Bunny G
For a euphoric moment of release, Bunny G steps in with “Menace Beach,” a refreshing blend of breaks and experimental bass. The smooth arpeggiated lead pairs seamlessly with bright, hoppy production, forming a track that’s as danceable as it is emotionally rich. There’s an elegance to the songwriting, even amid its rhythmic chaos. Just when you think you’ve settled into the groove, Bunny G’s artistry flips the script. It’s upbeat, yet introspective—a balance not easily achieved.

“come over” – NotLö, nomi, tess iconic
Finally, the album closes with the summer anthem we didn’t know we needed. “come over” is a sexy, sax-laced DnB track by NotLö, nomi, and tess iconic that leaves us swooning. It begins with tess iconic’s irresistible voicemail intro—flirty, bold, and magnetic. Then nomi weaves a sensual saxophone line through NotLö’s signature bass stylings, creating a full-bodied, immersive finish to the compilation. If “icy” is the Bass n Babes theme, “come over” is its afterparty. Together, they show just how powerful collaboration can be when it’s grounded in trust, chemistry, and joy.

The Beginning of a Movement
What Bass n Babes Vol. I offers is more than just a collection of tracks—it’s a statement. A manifesto, even. Every beat, drop, and collaboration on this record signals a larger shift within the electronic music landscape: one where femme, queer, and BIPOC artists don’t just participate—they lead.
As the first official release under Bass n Babes Records, this compilation introduces a new standard. It’s bold, authentic, and unapologetically rooted in community. Most importantly, it’s just the beginning.
