I’ve been fortunate enough to attend countless concerts and festivals over several years. It’s come to the point where I’ve been to so many that the memory of some slips my mind while some remain vivid, like it just happened. The other night, in the heart of Hollywood, I watched an unforgettable show.
On Tuesday night, rapper and singer Rico Nasty took the stage at The Fonda. It was her last night of Lethal Tour in support of her new album Lethal.
She’s Lethal
In May, Rico Nasty released Lethal, her seventh studio. This was her first release under the label. Fueled By Ramen. Over the years, the rapper has made a name for herself with signature punk rap sound and high energy performances. Sonically, we’ve seen her fuse elements of rap, trap, hyperpop, metal and electronic to create a sound unlike any other. Additionally, Nasty has collaborated with some of music’s biggest names including Doja Cat, Kali Uchis, Megan Thee Stallion and so many more. She’s the kind of artist you can’t put into one box because her style and sound range over multiple genres. On her latest release, she branches out into new sonic territory expanding the world of Rico Nasty.
Lethal marks Nasty’s heaviest rock inspired project to date. Sonically, she leans into rap-rock and punk influenced territory while maintaining her signature trap sound and impressive lyricism. Nasty succeeds at her experimentation with new sounds and styles of music. It showcases her continual growth as an artist. The biggest theme of the album is staying true to oneself and Nasty has always done that lyrically and sonically. Lethal is a fun record full of life and energy, perfect to be brought to life on a stage.

The Lethal Tour
Since September, Rico Nasty has been on the road to fans all over. The singer is known for her incredible live shows and infectious on stage presence. She concluded the tour in LA on Tuesday night. I was fortunate to be in the audience and witness a remarkable show.
A crowd of Rico Nasty fans packed the Fonda eagerly waiting for her to take the stage. When the lights dimmed, everyone began chanting her name welcoming her to the stage. From the second she walked out, she was giving the crowd everything she had. Nasty matched the energy of every song she played. Her setlist included songs across multiple albums and some of her notable collaborations. I was utterly impressed by her stage presence.

Shows in LA are often some of the most special for artists. Nasty made this show extra special with the special guests she brought out. On stage, the rapper was joined by Molly Santana and Teezo Touchdown. My favorite special guest of the night was when Hayley Williams of Paramore came out to sing “Smack A Bitch.” Everyone in the room just about lost it. Rico Nasty put on a killer show, one unlike any I’ve seen. She is truly one of the greats.
