In the heart of LA, is one of the city’s most beloved music venues. The Wiltern has seen countless performances from icons like Madonna, David Bowie and The Red Hot Chili Peppers to name a few. This historic venue is well known for booking a wide range of talents and genres. Each night, the list continues to grow. Over the weekend, electronic musical artist Big Wild brought his “Wild Child Tour” to The Wiltern.
The Wild Child Tour
In August, Jackson Stell, a.k.a Big Wild, released his third studio album Wild Child. With this new album, the artist was on a mission to reconnect with his love for music. After the success from The Efferusphere, Stell found himself taking the creative process too seriously. Wild Child is his grand return to the child-like curiosity that comes with the creative process. The alter ego that is Wild Child allowed Stell to dive right into his imagination, curiosity and creativity when making music. Along with the creative exploration, Stell goes on an introspective lyrical journey. The record features collaborations from Phantogram, Twen and iDA HAWK. With each release, Big Wild does an impeccable job at taking listeners on a journey from the second they hit play.
Over his career, Big Wild has built a massive following with hits like “When I Get There,” 6’s to 9’s” and “Awaken.” His music possesses a feel good energy that makes you want to dance and let loose. This has made him a must see act. During his live shows, Stell commands the stage with his liveliness and multi-instrumental talent. Ahead of his live show, I had the privilege of interviewing Stell about his new record. In case you missed it, check it out here.

The Crowd Goes Wild
On Saturday night, Big Wild fans filled The Wiltern eagerly anticipating the show. What makes Big Wild such a must see act is that he brings his heavily inspired electronic music to life with a live band. After his band mates opened the show with a grand entrance with his song “Farwell”, Stell came onto stage greeting the crowd full of excitement. He asked if everyone was ready to enter the portal, and everyone was more than ready.
The stage design was stunning. Behind Stell stood a light rig resembling a portal that lit up the room all night. Stell’s vocals were dreamy and enchanting, truly capturing the crowd’s attention. His live show truly transported everyone in the room into the sonic playground he’s created. The most impressive part of the show was how Stell moved from keys to percussion throughout the night maintaining high energy start to finish.

Big Wild’s set was full of songs from the new record like “Too Loud” and “Gotta Love Her.” He played fan favorites like “City of Sound” and “Show Me.” The grand encore was an unforgettable performance of “6’s to 9’s.” Big Wild’s show at The Wiltern was one for the books.
