This summer blazed hotter than ever, with scorching releases to match the rising temperatures across the country. Specifically, Los Angeles—you good in this heat wave? 😅 These are the tracks that help me beat the heat this summer, check it out.
Standout Tracks
“Stay” – Blossom
House-producer-turned-drum-and-bass trailblazer Blossom keeps winning hearts this year. Since entering the genre, she’s shared a one-of-a-kind perspective, and fans can’t stop buzzing. “Stay” delivers emotion and energy all at once, striking the perfect balance between heartfelt and high-octane.
“interlinked” – Star Trash
Next up, Star Trash transports us into a glowing digital dreamscape with “interlinked.” The production feels bright, bouncy, and crystal-clear, embodying the sound of the digital age. A subtle sample from Janet Jackson’s “Someone To Call My Lover” hums in the background, giving the shimmering beats even more magic.
“Stronger” – Blossom
Blossom comes back with another banger, this time heavier and grittier. “Stronger” leans into neurofunk influences and raw DnB rhythms that demand movement. On top of that, her vocals cut through with the perfect feminine energy, creating a fierce yet emotional atmosphere that makes this track unforgettable.
“Never Forget” – pyxis, Illmatika
“Never Forget” pays homage to drum and bass roots while pushing the sound forward. Pyxis takes control of the decks while Illmatika drops sharp bars, weaving a story like only a true MC can. In the U.K., DJs often roll with their own MCs, and now we’re watching that same energy move across U.S. stages. Just think about Fred Again inviting Skepta—those moments stay etched in memory. Fittingly, “Never Forget” dives into themes of lasting memories with loved ones, making it the perfect summer send-off.
“I’ll Take Care of You” – Tyler, The Creator & Yebba
Tyler, The Creator and Yebba delivered this summer’s most unexpected genre fusion. “I’ll Take Care of You” left jaws dropped with Yebba’s soaring vocals and Tyler’s fearless production choices. He blended UK garage, jungle, and breakbeats, then—because why not—layered in a clip from Crime Mob’s “Knuck If You Buck.” Only Tyler could dream that up and make it sound this incredible.
Standout Albums
Halogenix – Passions (Deluxe)
Liquid DnB mastermind Halogenix dropped the deluxe edition of Passions, and it proves why he’s a final boss of genre fluidity. With remixes from heavy-hitting friends, the project expands the original vision into fresh territory. Each artist spins their own perspective—slowing things down, ramping them up, or injecting signature twists. Highlights include Cesco’s remix of “Keeping You Close,” Satl’s spin on “I Told Ya,” and Cimm’s rework of “Cut Loose.”
Bass N Babes Vol. I
In June, the Bass N Babes collective launched their debut compilation album and simultaneously announced their independent label, Bass N Babes Records. Every artist in the crew showed up strong, and together they set the tone for an unstoppable future. Trust us—you’ll want this one in your rotation.
Ivy Lab – Strange Attractor
Finally, we close out with Ivy Lab’s Strange Attractor three-track album, a bass-heavy gem I’ve had on repeat all season. “Daily Star” leads the pack, but “Innocence” and “Strange Attractor” keep pulling me back as well. Ivy Lab thrives on hypnotic basslines, and this project proves exactly why their sound stays magnetic.
Happy Listening
With that being said, we hope you’ve enjoyed our standout picks and releases for the season. This summer has been one to remember, with a soundtrack to match the energy. Happy listening and Happy Summer!
