Lana Del Rey Shares Eerie New Single

by Nathan Corrál

For months and months Lana Del Rey fans have been anticipating when the singer would release new music from her rumored upcoming album. This album roll out in particular has been interesting to say the least. It is Lana coded in the best way possible. The wait is finally over. “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter” marks the official start of Lana’s new era.

New Era

The last time Lana released any new music was in the weeks leading to her Stagecoach debut last year. “Henry, come on” marked what would be the beginning of the singer’s venture into country music. Over time, Del Rey said the music was taking a more Americana sound than it was country. “Bluebird” followed “Henry, come on” exploring the Americana soundscape. Prior to both these tracks, Lana teamed up with Quavo for their country, trap inspired song “Tough.” A lot has changed for the singer since then.

In the midst of the singles, Lana playing Stagecoach, a brief tour in the U.K. and getting married, Lana announced a brand new album. She named it The Right Person Will Stay. Shortly after, the album title changed to Stove. For months, no new music came out with the announcement nor a release date.

Months following the announcement, Lana finally took to social media to give fans an update on the album. In an Instagram reel, the singer told fans that the album is coming soon. Along with the update, Del Rey announced her brand new single “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter” out on February 17th. The song was co-written with collaborators including her husband Jeremy Dufrene, her sister Chuck Grant, brother-in-law Jason Pickens, plus frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff.

Sonically, the track departs from the more traditional, Americana sound listeners hear on “Henry, come on” and “Bluebird. “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter” takes on an eerie, spooky sound. It’s theatrical with a chorus that sounds like it would fit into an old Disney cartoon. Many critics and fans have shared that this track reminds them of Lana’s earlier work when she was releasing music under Lizzy Grant. The singer said “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter” is her favorite song on the album.

Along with the single, a stunning music video came out with the track. A scene in the video that seems to echo the album’s title Stove, shows Lana Del Rey with her head in the oven.

Somethings Cooking

So, when can we expect Lana’s new album? While there is no confirmed album title or date, fans have an idea of when the album is allegedly supposed to drop. In her Instagram reel, the singer revealed the album should be out within the next few months. There is yet to be a confirmed tracklist, so we are unsure if “Henry, come on” and “Bluebird” will be featured on the record or if “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter” is the official first taste of the album.
