My Selections:
This week, my selections capture themes that never fade—feeling good and falling in love. These tracks continue to spark joy and connection, no matter how many times we hear them.
“My Girl” – The Temptations (1964)
Let’s kick things off with “My Girl,” a flawless gem by The Temptations. This one is the ultimate dedication to that special someone—tender, joyful, and endlessly uplifting. No matter what kind of day I’m having, the moment I hear “I’ve got sunshiiiiiiine, on a clouuuuudy day…” a smile instantly spreads across my face. That hook? Pure gold.

“How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)” – Marvin Gaye (1964)
Next up, we shine a light on Marvin Gaye’s timeless groove, “How Sweet It Is.” Since this marks his final feature in our Timeless Tuesday lineup—we’re taking a moment to truly honor him. Gaye’s silky vocals over a warm, upbeat rhythm make this track perfect for slow mornings (preferably with iced coffee in hand). His music still reaches the heart and moves the soul, even decades after its release.
“Brown Eyed Girl” – Van Morrison (1967)
Closing out my picks is “Brown Eyed Girl,” a track that hits home—especially for us brown-eyed girls. Van Morrison’s jazzy, folk-infused vibe creates a carefree tune that’s full of sunshine and nostalgia. It’s light, familiar, and transports you straight into your best memories.
Nathan’s Selections:
Nathan’s selections bring a mix of catchy hooks and emotional depth—a beautiful way to wrap up the season and keep the energy flowing.
“Loving You” – Jennifer Lopez (2002)
Sampling Mtume’s 1983 classic “Juicy Fruit,” J.Lo makes her Timeless Tuesday debut with “Loving You.” At the height of her reign, Jennifer Lopez embodied the Latin hip-hop era—gritty, glamorous, and effortlessly cool. This song, dripping with longing and reflection, captures what it feels like to love someone you can’t quite let go of.

“Honey” – Mariah Carey (1997)
Mariah. The moment she steps into a playlist, the entire mood shifts. “Honey” is one of her most beloved hits—and for good reason. It’s playful, sultry, and groovy all at once. Carey’s vocals swirl and sparkle throughout the track, giving it a signature sweetness that only she can deliver.
“Under the Milky Way” – The Church (1988)
Nathan’s final track takes us to a different galaxy with “Under the Milky Way” by The Church. Opening with a dark, ambient tone, the song slowly blossoms into a dreamy, cosmic landscape. As the music expands, it feels like floating beneath the stars—weightless, introspective, and full of wonder. It’s a sonic journey that invites you to reflect, breathe, and simply be.
Cheyenne’s Selections:
To close us out, Cheyenne’s selections bring the heartfelt, soul-stirring sounds of Tim Buckley—a master of emotional storytelling and vocal range.
“Once I Was” – Tim Buckley (1967)
First up, “Once I Was” delivers a quiet storm of recollection and longing. Buckley’s angelic voice, paired with poignant lyrics, feels like a soft conversation with your past self. It’s the kind of song that makes you pause, think, and maybe even shed a tear.
“Song to the Siren” – Tim Buckley (1970)
Next, Buckley shifts gears with “Song to the Siren.” The melody flows like water—smooth, haunting, and beautifully coasting the surface. Singing to a siren lost at sea, Buckley captures that desperate ache of waiting for someone who might never return. It’s mesmerizing.
“Pleasant Street” – Tim Buckley (1967)
Finally, “Pleasant Street” closes out both Cheyenne’s selections and our season. This track highlights Buckley’s impressive vocal range and emotional depth. His raw delivery and haunting wails hit you right in the chest. The song feels like a long kiss goodbye—one filled with beauty, pain, and the kind of tears you can’t stop, even if you tried.
Until Next Time…
Thanks for tuning in. Though this chapter of Timeless Tuesday is coming to a close, the spirit of it lives on in the music. Whether you’re easing into your morning, driving home at dusk, or looking for a reminder of what moves you—this playlist will always be here.
