by Nathan Corrál

Last week officially marked the first day of summer. As the seasons change and we welcome warm sunny days, we often find the music we listen to change with the season. To many, summertime is filled with beach days, laying by the pool, and rooftop parties all soundtracked by good music. The Mic Drop team hand-selected our favorite summertime songs that you should add to your rotation (immediately).

“Supplier” by Kari Faux

Featured on her debut studio album Los En Los Angeles, “Supplier” by Kari Faux is the perfect tune to play at a pool party to get people moving and grooving. “Supplier” fuses funk-infused ’80s-style grooves with modern minimalist hip-hop. Faux’s playful lyrics and killer bars make for easy listening under the sun.

Imagine a cool breeze softly touching our face while the sunsets beautifully. That is the exact feeling “Couldn’t Catch My Breath” by Houseplants and Harriet Brown evokes. The deep electro house track provides immaculate vibes perfect to wind down a long day in the sun before getting ready for an exciting night.

“Island In The Sun” by Weezer

This list would be incomplete without a classic like Weezer’s “Island In The Sun.” The playful pop rock song stands out as one of Weezer’s best in their solid discography. This tune is for everyone out there enjoying the season with their summer crush or sweetheart, having the time of their lives.
