Five Fresh Releases For New Music Friday

It’s Friday which means a whole lot of new music! Here are five picks from our staff!

“At The Wedding” by Tennis

Beloved husband and wife duo, Tennis, have given fans the second single, “At The Wedding”  from their forthcoming album Face Down In The Garden. This album comes following their 2022 release Pollen. Lead singer Alaina’s sultry vocals are accompanied by her staggered keys and a snappy percussion arrangement. The song carries the signature Tennis sound that fans have fallen in love with, while simultaneously presenting a side to the band we have yet to see. The groovy bassline in the background makes it impossible to not tap your foot. The song is accompanied by a gorgeous visual. Make sure to catch these indie darlings on the road this summer.

“Coge El Paso” by HUGEL and DERON featuring La Payara’s

“Coge El Paso” is the brand new track from Platinum DJ and producer HUGEL and tech house artist DERON featuring La Payara. This certified banger is HUGEL’s bold return to Defected Records. “Coge El Paso” seamlessly combines HUGEL’s signature Latin-house sound with DERON’s fiery tech house production to make for a killer track. La Payara’s vocals perfectly fit this track adding a unique Colombian and world-inspired sound. With festival season right around the corner, this track is definitely one to keep in your rotation.

“There Goes My Baby” by Ambar Lucid

Ambar Lucid returns with her first new release in almost a year with “There Goes My Baby.” The hypnotic track features Lucid’s signature style of singing in English and Spanish. Sonically, the song blends elements of punk and psychedelic styles to create a remarkable sound. As always, Lucid crushes it vocally.The singer showcases her impressive vocal range when she sings in her upper register. 

Ruby by JENNIE

BLACKPINK member JENNIE has released her highly anticipated debut, solo record Ruby. The album features a long list of notable collaborations with Doechii, Childish Gambino and Kali Uchis. As a whole, JENNIE fuses a wide range of influences on her album from hip hop to pop. Her opening track “Intro: JANE with FKJ” softly starts the record with FKJ’s assistance of a groovy instrumental accompanied by JENNIE’s soft vocals. “Handlebars” (feat. Dua Lipa) is another stand out track on the album. This track takes on an alt pop sound where the two star’s shine together singing about the habit of falling too fast and too deep for someone. Their voices combine extremely well together, making for an unforgettable collaboration.

“Leave The Light On” PLS&TY & x.o.anne

Making his Dim Mak debut, “”Leave The Light On” is a dance pop track by Tommy Leas, better known as PLS&TY. x.o.anne provides soft vocals singing of the journey back to a lost love. Leas describes the song’s meaning as, “a love letter in song about holding onto the hope that someone will return.” Along with the sentimental meaning behind the song, it is a feel-good track from start to finish. PLS&TY effortlessly blends vibrant synths with a pulsating beat; two ingredients for a perfect dance track. This trance-like track will transport you into another world instantly guaranteed to be played on repeat.
