In recent months, DJ sets have been taking place in some locations out of the ordinary and not in the typical nightclub or warehouse. All over social media we’ve seen DJs stationed behind counters at coffee shops, to Diplo spinning in Antarctica. The latest surprise DJ set happened just a few days ago where John Summit played a pop up set in a tram suspended in mid-air.
Where is the next DJ pop up going to take place you might ask?
Over the weekend I attended a Boiler Room pop up at a dispensary in West Hollywood, and it was one of the best experiences ever.

Boiler Room at The Woods
Presented by Tell Somebody, a dispensary boiler room party took place on Saturday night, at The Woods, in West Hollywood. The Woods is a cannabis-friendly neighborhood lounge and event space, located in the heart of WeHo. The event was met with much anticipation and excitement as it received over 2,000 RSVPS. The lineup included three killer DJs, Rommii, Ladler, and TXKA.
Upon arrival, a line had formed stretching far down Santa Monica Blvd. Not only is The Woods a dispensary, it is also an exceptionally beautiful cannabis lounge, making it the perfect location for a live DJ set. The lounge lays behind the dispensary, and from the second you step foot in the outdoor patio you are immediately transported to a tropical escape full of palm trees and ambient lighting from lamps hanging overhead. The atmosphere felt reminiscent of summertime. Attendees had the luxury of a standard bar as well as a bar that exclusively sold THC-infused seltzers along with cannabis-infused snacks. The dispensary was fully open to the public during the event, allowing attendees to shop the numerous products available. A “Boiler Room” setting has never worked so well with its location.

A set from TXKA started the night full of chill-house tunes that set the mood for the rest of the evening. The space filled quickly, fans indulging in what The Woods had to offer to elevate their night. By the time the second DJ, Ladler, hopped on stage it was a full-house. He played a wild set ranging from fan-favorite dance songs to his own original music including “SUNSHINE.” At one point during his set, he compelled the entire crowd to get low all the way to the floor, sending the music-lovers back into a frenzy when they all jumped up on their feet. In the final two hours of the night, Rommii spun a sick set full of non-stop dancing. The rest of the night ran smoothly, making it a night to remember.
Is This The Beginning Of The Next Trend?
Saturday’s pop-up was by far a success. Dispensary raves possess the potential to host an unforgettable night, especially if the location looks anything like The Woods. So, what does that mean for the future of “Boiler Room” sets and DJ sets in general? The options are endless, especially in major cities like Los Angeles. Where would you like to see the next pop-up DJ set take place?
