Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Short n’ Sweet’ Gets Even Sweeter with a Deluxe Twist

by Cheyenne Leitch

Sabrina Carpenter dropped a deluxe version of her album Short n’ Sweet on Valentine’s Day. The deluxe version features five additional tracks that expand upon the original’s themes and musical styles. This release follows her recent Grammy wins, including Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Sabrina Gives a ‘Taste’ of Her Talent to the Grammys

Sabrina’s Grammy performance was dazzling and witty. Much like her 2024 tour performances, she commanded the stage with comedy and talent. The bite-sized star captured the audience’s attention with a dynamic medley of her hits “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.” She began in a sparkly tuxedo dress and ended in a baby blue leotard adorned with jewels.

The “Bed Chem” singer reminded the crowd of her acting chops with an old-school theatrical and comedic entrance. She treated the crowd to a jazzed up version of “Espresso,” then transitioned into “Please Please Please” and then went back to “Espresso” to end her performance. Sabrina and her dancers lit the stage up, solidifying her status as a quickly rising star in the industry.

One Sabrina Album is Cute, but Two Though?

The deluxe version of Sabrina’s album dropped on February 14, a fitting day for an album of love and breakup songs. The deluxe album includes five new tracks, “Couldn’t Make It Any Harder,” “Bad Reviews,” “Busy Woman,” “15 Minutes,” and “Please Please Please” (feat. Dolly Parton).

“Couldn’t Make It Any Harder”

Couldn’t Make It Any Harderis a slow ballad and suits Sabrina’s soft and twangy voice perfectly. The song gives the same vibes as “Hopelessly Devoted to You” (from the Grease soundtrack) sung by Olivia Newton John.

“Bad Reviews”

In “Bad Reviews,” Sabrina shows off her skills at creating a classic country song. The acoustic background and her airy voice mix so effortlessly.

“Busy Woman”

The Short n’ Sweet singer mixes a synth beat and her witty, comical lyrics to create my personal favorite off of the deluxe album, “Busy Woman.”

“15 Minutes”

Sabrina is definitely going to be a star for a lot longer than “15 Minutes. She returns to her pop roots in this new song. It’s refreshing to witness an artist that is so unapologetic and honest in their music.

“Please Please Please” (feat. Dolly Parton)

Sabrina and icon Dolly Parton collabed on a version of “Please Please Please” for the extended version of the album. The fresh version of the song blends Carpenter’s soulful, youthful energy with Parton’s timeless country charm, creating an unforgettable musical experience.

The Dolly Parton and Sabrina collab did spark some criticism from fans. There were mixed reviews with some fans ecstatic with the duo’s creation and some feeling it missed the mark. A lot of people said that they would have rather heard Dolly feature on “Slim Pickins.

Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet deluxe edition not only builds upon the original album’s charm but also demonstrates her versatility as an artist. Sabrina’s growing artistic maturity and her ability to surprise audiences make this deluxe release a notable milestone in her already impressive career.
