TikTok’s Trendiest Songs of 2023

As one of the biggest social media platforms out there, TikTok is perhaps best known for their viral audios. Whether it’s a comedic clip or parts of a song, some of these sounds remain “trending” for months. However, the trend doesn’t stop at TikTok. We’ve seen these audios slowly making their way onto Instagram, Twitter, and even music’s top charts.

Record labels and independent artists alike have noticed this trend too. Which is why promoting music via TikTok has become one of the new and most important methods. While we wait to ring in 2024, let’s take a look at some of the trendiest songs TikTok had to offer in 2023.

“Flowers”- Miley Cyrus

Starting strong, “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus dominated the charts and turned into a huge trending song on TikTok. Since the song’s release in early January, fans have taken to examining the lyrics and unearthing all of the Easter eggs regarding Cyrus’ ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth. Now, with over 5.5 million videos made to the song, there’s no shortage of “Flowers” content.

One user made a TikTok pointing out Easter eggs:

There are so many other TikToks with this similar vibe—single empowerment and being on your own. These videos have definitely brought more attention to the song, but it also helps that it’s pretty catchy.

“ceilings”- Lizze McAlpine

Perhaps one of the longest-running trending sounds, “ceilings” by Lizzie McAlpine (sped-up version) captured the hearts of TikTok users. With the original already being a radio hit, the sped-up version provided even more popularity. Many people capitalized on the dramatics of the sound, using the climax of the song as the inspiration for their posts. With 701.2k videos, fans dressed up and ran through fields, lip syncing in the most passionate way.

With 4.2 million likes on this post alone, fans seem to be drawn to the revamped version of “ceilings” and the creativity that comes from such a sad yet beautiful song.

“Boy’s a Liar pt 2” – Pinkpantheress and Ice Spice

British singer, Pinkpantheress, released her remix of “Boy’s a Liar” featuring Ice Spice in February. This quickly became a hit and Ice Spice rose to fame. Her signature orange hair and verses became popular overnight. With an incredibly catchy beat, it’s no surprise this song has over 2.1 million TikToks.

Ranging from celebrities to outfit reveals, the song has been used for pretty much any occasion:

This remixed version is sure to stay around for a bevy of TikTok videos, catching the attention of users everywhere.

“My Love Mine all Mine”- Mitski

Mitski’s new album has grabbed a lot of attention, especially her song, “My Love Mine All Mine.” With over 1.8 million TikToks, users have taken to using this sweet song as an ode to their loved ones. Some have posted their kids, partners, and even their dogs. These edits are definitely leaving users teary-eyed.

This one in particular caught my attention:

With a whopping 7.5 million likes on this post, it’s safe to say that users are in awe of the cuteness that comes with the song dedicated to falling in love.

“Prada”- Casso, Raye, and D-block Europe

“Prada” is an upbeat, club song. Starting as an unofficial remix by casso, the popularity it gained on TikTok resulted in the song being officially released. This electronic, tech-no beat is easy to dance to, perfect for a club in Vegas.

This Tiktoker feels the same way:

Given its quick popularity, it’s safe to say that this song might have a strong return for the summer. You can definitely expect this song to be DJed at your favorite club.

“Escapism”- 070 Shake and Raye

Another Raye hit, “Escapism,” was deemed a TikTok-induced club hit. With a similar vibe to “Prada,” this is an easy song to sing along to. The lyrics detail a long night out on the town with suspicious people and places. With 638.4K videos, this is another hit you can expect to hear this summer.

This is just one example of why this song will definitely end up on the dance floor:

Add this song to your playlist if you’re looking for something to lift your mood up.

The End of an Era

Have you listened to any of these songs? Can you give credit to TikTok, or did you know these before they were a trend?

2023 is ending soon, so many of these trending songs will likely fade out as well. But with over one billion users, you can definitely expect new trends—thanks to TikTok—in 2024.
