We’ve reached the last New Music Friday of January. So far, this year has been off to an incredible start. We’ve got brand new music from Harry Styles, Slayyyter, Charli xcx and so many more artists we love. This week brings another batch of brand new tunes. We are closing out January with brand new tracks from John Summit, Don Toliver, Cannons and more! Check out everything we picked below!
“LIGHTS GO OUT” John Summit
Kicking off this week’s New Music Friday is a hot and heavy banger from John Summit. The anthemic opening of “LIGHTS GO OUT” sets the tone for one of Summit’s best releases to date. Summit uses high energy production with house rhythms, heavy synths, fast paced drums and a catchy hook. Trust us when we tell you that you will play this song on repeat all weekend.
“Body” Don Toliver
Rapper and singer Don Toliver released a fire track. “Body” is featured in Toliver’s fifth studio album OCTAINE out today. The song samples Jutsin Timberlake and The Neptune’s iconic hit “Rock Your Body.” I couldn’t think of a better way to open a track with a sample as iconic as that. Tolvier uses atmospheric production to create an undeniably cool and catchy song. Be sure to check out the rest of the album.
“Starlight” Cannons
Today, Los Angeles trio Cannons dropped a brand new song. “Starlight” is the second single from the band’s forthcoming album Everything Glows out everywhere March 26th. This single follows the lead single “All I Need.” On “Starlight,” the band blends dreamy alt-pop with soft electronic influences. Lead singer Michelle Joy sings beautifully about light and hope in darkness. The band has described their new record as their most vulnerable work to date.
“Prettier” Grace Vanderwal
Next in this week’s round up is a fresh new track from singer songwriter Grace Vanderwal. “Prettier” is an emotionally honest track of reflection that explores beauty, self worth and being valued for who you are. Vanderwal gives listeners an intimate and vulnerable look on her relationship with herself. Grab your tissues because this one is definitely a tearjerker.
“Me Asusta Amar Tanta la Soledad” Rubio
We got another emotional track for you. Rubio’s new song “Me Asusta Amar Tanta la Soledad” explores the fears that come with loving. The dreamy production takes listeners into a beautiful soundscape. The lush vocals and soft guitars match the track’s vulnerable theme.
“THEMSELVES” Jordan Ward
Closing out this week’s New Music Friday is a groovy new track from R&B singer Jordan Ward. “THEMSELVES” is a smooth and groovy track that will have you dancing all night long. The slick bassline and soft percussion work hand in hand to create the track’s infectious energy. Ward’s vocals are smooth and soulful. We’ll have this one on repeat all weekend!
Thanks for tuning in to another unforgettable New Music Friday! See you next time!
