2026 is in full swing for the music world. It seems like each week we are getting even more releases and news of new music on the way. We are halfway through January and already have so much to look forward to in the coming months. This New Music Friday is stacked with releases from A$AP Rocky, Slayyyter, Charli xcx and more!
Don’t Be Dumb A$AP Rocky
Coming in hot is the brand new album from A$AP Rocky. Don’t Be Dumb is the rapper’s first full-length project in eight years. Last week, Rocky gave us the first taste of the record with “PUNK ROCKY.” Sonically, the rapper indulges in experimentation pulling influence from punk, psychedelic and classic hip hop. There is plenty of variety seasoned throughout that record showcasing that Rocky is one of the greatest artists in music today. Expectations for this project were definitely high, and A$AP Rocky made sure to exceed them.
“DANCE…” Slayyyter
Earlier this week, Slayyyter announced her fourth album WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA out March 27th. Along with the announcement, she released the fourth single from the project. The singer had been teasing “DANCE…” online for a few weeks and finally gave it to fans. After three solid singles, “DANCE…” marks a new sonic direction for the project. Slayyyter utilizes dark, heavy synths and a hard hitting beat perfect for the dancefloor. WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA is hands down the project I’m looking forward to the most this year.
“Wall of Sound” Charli xcx
Next, Charli xcx released the third single from the upcoming soundtrack for Wuthering Heights. “Wall of Sound” is a cinematic, orchestral masterpiece with a Charli xcx spin. The arrangement is tense and moody all leading to something big. Charli’s vocals echo throughout the track making the song easy to get lost in. While we wait for the rest of the soundtrack, we can appreciate the sonic world Charli has created for the film thus far. The soundtrack for Wuthering Heights comes out on February 12th
“Where’s My Phone?” Mitski
Today, Mitski released the lead single from her upcoming album Nothing’s About to Happen to Me. “Where’s My Phone?” marks a new era for the singer-songwriter. The production blends fuzzy guitars with an indie rock beat. The track builds and builds into a cathartic climax that takes listeners into another world. Mitski shines with an indie, punk rock song bringing high energy to start her album rollout. Nothing’s About to Happen to Me is out on February 27th.
“Piranesi” Mimika
Next in this week’s round up is a brand new song from Mimika. “Piranesi” is an orchestral pop song full of sweeping woodwinds, brass and strings. The production blends the orchestral elements with emotional song writing bound to tug your heart strings at first listen. The song is absolutely beautiful. Mimika has a knack for story telling that shines on “Piranesi.”
