Los Angeles’ most iconic venue, The Roxy, has seen unforgettable performances from the biggest stars in music. The venue’s rich history and legacy grows more and more each night as artists on the rise play some of their first shows in LA at The Roxy.
One artist that should be on everyone’s radar, Luna Luna, took the stage at The Roxy last night kicking off the For Siempre Tour.
Meet Luna Luna
Luna Luna is the solo project of Texas-born artist, Kavvi. The Colombian-American singer, songwriter and producer beautifully crafts dreamy, lo-fi, indie pop music. Singing in Spanish and English, he has cemented himself as one of indie music’s most promising acts.
This week marks a new chapter for Kavvi with the release of his brand new EP For Siempre Pt.1. Along with the EP, he is about to hit the road on the For Siempre Tour. Last night, the tour kicked off at The Roxy in West Hollywood. Before the show, I sat down with Kavvi to talk about the new EP, tour and For Siempre Pt. 2.

In Conversation With Kavvi
The EP titled in Spanglish was done intentionally showcasing the project’s bilingual elements. Kavvi came to the U.S. when he was six. Spanish was his first language, and he later on learned English in school. Singing in Spanglish represents his most authentic self.
On For Siempre Pt. 1, Luna Luna branches out into upbeat, dance floor ready rhythms. The new project keeps the artist’s nostalgic sound that fans love, but we also see him come out of his shell exploring new sounds and styles of music. Songs like “Ven Y Ven” channel a Tejano influence that reminds his fans of Cumbia Kings. On “Como Tu,” the singer explores a Spanish-house sound. Much of the project was recorded by Kavvi alone in his home in Texas. Collaborators like Oren Yoel and El Dusty worked with him on the EP. This project is a feel good, romantic collection of songs ready for the dance floor. Fans can expect the second part of For Siempre next year.

Live At The Roxy
Last night, fans filled The Roxy eagerly waiting for Luna Luna to take the stage. When the curtain rose, the crowd burst into cheers and chants. The setlist was full of deep cuts and fan favorites like “Commitment” and “For You.” He and his band also played the new songs of For Siempre Pt. 1. Songs like “Ven Y Ven” and “cuando tú me besas” had the whole room dancing with their infectious energy. Kavvi’s vocals are soft and dreamy making for one hell of a show.
As we near the end of Hispanic Heritage month, it was a privilege to be in a room full of Bilingual fans and music lovers who all relate so closely to the music and to the artist. Before the show officially ended, fans cheered “Otra, otra,” repeatedly until the band came back on stage for an unforgettable encore. Last night’s show at The Roxy was a celebration of a new chapter, new music and new tour for the incredible artist.
Be sure to stream For Siempre Pt. 1 and catch Luna Luna on the road this fall!
