III Points Artist Spotlight: DJ Koze

III Points, an alternative music festival held within the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami, is gearing up for its sixth year. The founders have aimed to celebrate the weird, the wonderful, and the talented and have completely succeeded in doing so.

III Points will be held on February 15-17 and in true Miami fashion, festival goers will be partying from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I was a III Points virgin up until last year, and can easily say that this is one of my favorite festivals that I have attended. It was sultry, deep, and completely enchanting. It reeled me in when I took my first steps through the entrance… a shipping container art exhibit in front of me, techno playing to the right, and hip hop playing to the left. With such a diverse lineup, I’ve decided to pick out a few of my favorite artists leading up to the event. This week’s spotlight: DJ Koze.

I first heard of DJ Koze on a random Spotify shuffle sesh a few years back. The native from Germany has been in the music scene since 1988 when he won a mixing competition. Stefan Kozalla was part of a the hip-hop act Fischmob before he started releasing music as DJ Koze.

His dreamy, minimal sound is what truly drew me in. The first tune that I heard was XTC.

Chill, ambient techno is a weakness of mine. Pair that with this erotic, vintage voice, and it’ll transport you to another dimension.

Keep on vibing with Driven, an upbeat, bumpin’ track that makes you want to dance and lay back and look at the stars at the same time.

They also have a pretty bangin’ Spotify Playlist. It’s really cool to see, in such a saturated market, a festival that actually cares about diversity and art as much as III Points does.
