Breakout Artist of the Year: Gallya

Emerging from the shadows of dark techno, we have an artist that has continued to fill the spotlight over the past year. Hailing from Sofia, Bulgaria is DJ & producer Gallya. The Bulgarian artist has been on a steady rise over the past few years as she has made some serious moves in the the techno scene. Back in 2015 we saw the launch of her label ‘Set About‘ which is a collaboration with Metodi Hristov. The label has hosted names such as HUDO, Teenage Mutants, GusGus, Dj Lion, Monstergetdown, and of course Gallya & Metodi Hristov. In 2016, Gallya pushed her way into the scene with a handful of high quality EPs released on El Row, Deeperfect, Kinetika and of course her own label, Set About. The music she released in 2016 plus some sporadic gigs throughout the year earned her a nomination from Beatport for Top Tech House Artist.

2017 was another year of growth for Gallya as she released more music, played more shows across the globe, and continued to grow a larger fan base. Her dark and industrial sound caught the ear of many including Deadmau5 who played Gallya’s track “Machines” on his BBC Radio One Residency. “Machines” also peaked at 16 on the Beatport Top 100 Techno chart which is stayed in for over a month. This was just the beginning for Gallya and Deadmau5, 2018 has now brought us multiple Gallya tracks on Mau5trap including a remix of a the label boss’ track “GG”. Gallya has achieved so much in just a few short years and is showing no signs of slowing down. At the rate she’s going she is heading for a seat on the throne as the queen of dark techno.
