by Nathan Corrál

For quite some time now, the legendary city of Las Vegas has earned a reputation for holding some of the most unforgettable residencies from the biggest names in not only music, but across the entertainment world. Over the years, Las Vegas has seen residencies from  Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Celine Dio, Gwen Stefani and so many more. The list goes on and on. With the opening of The Sphere in September 2023, Las Vegas has become an even bigger hotspot for artists to hold residencies.

Yesterday, another one of music’s icons announced their first Las Vegas residency taking place later this year.

The One And Only Mary J. Blige

This week, Grammy award winning singer and songwriter Mary J. Blige announced she will be heading to Las Vegas for her first ever Las Vegas residency. The singer went on the “Today Show” to make the exciting announcement.

Blige is deemed the queen of hip-hop soul and the queen of R&B. For over 30 years, the singer has been a force in music with her one of a kind voice, heartfelt songwriting and soulful sounds. Over the course of her career, Blige has won nine Grammys and achieved eight platinum albums. We know and love her for hit songs like “Family Affair,” “Without You” and “Real Love.” She’s collaborated with huge names including Ms. Lauryn Hill, JAY-Z, Sting and George Michael. The singer has endured highs and lows in her personal life throughout her career and has persevered to create a legacy with her remarkable music.

Blige remains active as a performer and creator. Last year she went on her monumental “For My Fans Tour.” After the tour concluded, she released an accompanying film from her show at Madison Square Garden.

What We Know So Far

Mary J. Blige’s “My Life, My Story” Las Vegas residency runs from May 1st through May 9th and resumes July 10th through July 18th. The show will take place at Dolby Live at Park MGM.

What can we expect? Blige assured fans that the show will be theatrical. She will tell a story on stage, her story. The show will include actors that connect the story being told to the songs she performs. With such an impressive catalog, Blige stressed that she will perform songs never played before, b-sides. Rest assured, Blige will be playing the hit songs fans know and love. Along with that, she wants the other tracks in the setlist to tell a story. In her interview on the “Today Show,” the singer assured that her residency will be “more than just singing songs.” This will be a one of a kind of experience for fans who have been with her from the beginning and fans who joined along the way.

Blige’s residency is shaping up to be one of a kind. She is an incredible performer and a force of talent. Her live shows have been raved about and praised throughout her career.

Tickets go on sale this week. The residency is limited to ten shows, so make sure you set your reminders!
