Tyler, The Creator Named Apple Music’s Artist of the Year 2025

by Cheyenne Leitch

Tyler, The Creator is officially Apple Music’s Artist of the Year 2025, and it’s hard to imagine anyone else taking the spot this year. This isn’t about streams or trending numbers alone. It’s about influence, vision, and the kind of cultural footprint that forces the rest of the industry to adjust. Tyler didn’t just release music in 2025; he dictated the conversation around it. Every album track, every visual, every tour stop, every Golf Wang drop added up to a year that revolved around his creativity, and Apple Music recognized it.

The award isn’t handed out lightly. Apple Music specifically noted his ability to shape the sound and style of the year, to push listeners into spaces they hadn’t expected to go, and to make music that doesn’t just exist, it commands attention. Tyler’s work this year wasn’t about fitting in or appealing to the mainstream; it was about building a world that felt entirely his. And that world wasn’t small. It reached charts, it reached fans, it reached every corner of social media where culture spreads. Apple Music awarding him Artist of the Year is less a surprise and more a reflection of the reality everyone already felt: Tyler set the pace in 2025.

THE DOUBLE-ALBUM FLEX

While still performing CHROMAKOPIA around the world, Tyler unexpectedly released DON’T TAP THE GLASS. Leaner, louder, more feral, and almost aggressively unpolished, it acted like a sudden left turn from the album that came before it. And yet, it fit him perfectly. The surprise release shot straight to the top of charts in more than fifty countries, proving that his fanbase doesn’t just follow him, they’re locked in enough to show up instantly.

What tied both albums together wasn’t their sound but the confidence behind them. Tyler treated 2025 like a year of creative whiplash, showing he could build a lush sonic universe one moment and then rip the floor out from under it the next. It’s that type of ambition Apple wanted to acknowledge, because very few artists are still taking swings this big this far into their career.

Even outside music, Tyler’s influence extended into fashion and design. Golf Wang delivered one of its most celebrated collections yet, setting trends that echoed across the streetwear scene. Emerging artists adopted his approach to production, visual storytelling, and aesthetic risk-taking. (And don’t forget that Tyler is about to make his film acting debut in Marty Supreme.) Every move Tyler made this year fed into the momentum that made his Artist of the Year win feel not just deserved, but inevitable.

THE CROWN FITS AND HE DOESN’T EVEN CARE

What makes this award hit differently is how effortless Tyler makes it look. Apple Music called him “the artist who defined the cultural tempo of 2025,” and it’s accurate, but that only scratches the surface. Tyler didn’t just release albums or tour. He built a full creative ecosystem. Music, fashion, visuals, and performance all orbit him now. He moves through it all with a confidence that makes it look easy, even though the influence he wields is massive.

Apple Music gave him the title, but the year wasn’t about validation. It was about Tyler running the show on his own terms, dictating trends, and redefining what it means to be an artist today. The crown fits, but he doesn’t need it. Tyler, The Creator ran 2025. Everyone else just followed.
