Happy Timeless Tuesday, Mic Drop family! We’re back with another round of ageless jams, and this week marks Episode 014. Our team has curated a diverse mix of genres, each track handpicked to evoke nostalgia, joy, and everything in between. As we move deeper into the summer season, there’s no better time to press play and soak in these wave frequencies. Let’s dive into this week’s selections – this is Timeless Tuesday: Episode 014.
Cheyenne:
“Where Is My Mind?” – Pixies (1988)
To kick things off, Cheyenne delivers a powerhouse pick with “Where Is My Mind?” by the Pixies. Although this track was released in 1988, it still hits with the same intensity decades later. Notably, the song has resurfaced on TikTok in recent years, where it’s become a staple in emotionally charged edits and moody montages, because obvi. Its dreamy yet chaotic energy captures a timeless alternative rock essence that is appreciated by all generations.
“Turn the Beat Round” – Vicki Sue Robinson (1976)
Next up, Cheyenne keeps the energy high with “Turn the Beat Around” by disco queen Vicki Sue Robinson. From the moment the percussion hits, you’re transported to a dance floor under spinning lights. With its vibrant rhythm, contagious groove, and powerhouse vocals, this 1976 classic quickly became a radio and club hit—and it still brings the party today.
“Alma Matters” – Morrissey (1997)

To round out her list, Cheyenne selects Morrissey’s reflective anthem “Alma Matters.” This song stands out for its introspective lyrics and bold declaration of personal autonomy. Morrissey sings:
So the life I have made
May seem wrong to you
But I’ve never been surer
It’s my life to ruin
My own way
The raw emotion in this track speaks to anyone who’s ever walked their own path, no matter the cost.
Nathan:
“Don’t Worry Baby” – The Beach Boys (1964)
Nathan opens his selections with a sun-soaked classic, “Don’t Worry Baby” by The Beach Boys. This track captures the essence of summer, surfboards, and simpler times. At its core, it’s a song about overcoming fear, anchored by reassuring words from a loved one. The Beach Boys’ harmonies provide a calming backdrop, making this a go-to track for warm days and cool evenings.
“Bette Davis Eyes” – Kim Carnes (1981)
Following that, Nathan brings us Kim Carnes’ 1981 smash hit, “Bette Davis Eyes.” Released as part of her Mistaken Identity album, this synth-heavy track became a global phenomenon. It’s not just catchy—it’s iconic. With its sultry delivery and standout production, it remains a must-add to any retro playlist.
“Have You Ever Seen the Rain” – Creedence Clearwater Revival (1971)
Lastly, Nathan closes with one of CCR’s most beloved tracks: “Have You Ever Seen the Rain.” This song is both melancholic and hopeful, blending the band’s signature roots-rock sound with heartfelt lyrics. With over 30 million records sold in the U.S. alone, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s legacy is undeniable—and this track exemplifies why.
Laneisha:
“Cupid” – 112
First up on my list is the heartfelt R&B ballad “Cupid” by 112. This track, from their debut self-titled album, instantly pulls you in with its vulnerability and rich harmonies. Even after countless listens, I still find myself hitting repeat. If you’re an R&B fan, this track deserves a permanent spot in your rotation.
“They Don’t Know” – Jon B. (1998)
Keeping the ’90s energy alive, my second pick is “They Don’t Know” by Jon B. This sultry slow jam was his second highest-charting single and with good reason. Its message about protecting love from outside judgment still resonates, and Jon B.’s velvety voice seals the deal: this is a certified timeless classic.
“Soon As I Get Home” – Faith Evans (1995)

Finally, I close with a soul-stirring favorite, “Soon As I Get Home” by Faith Evans. Her voice is raw, emotional, and magnetic, drawing you into a deeply personal love letter to her partner (The Notorious B.I.G). This track captures the heart of what makes ’90s R&B so timeless—authenticity, soul, and passion.
