Hey Mic Drop Fam! We made it to another New Music Friday. As the season shifts into fall, we find ourselves leaning into a softer sound. Don’t you worry, we rounded up a wide variety of sounds for those who long for summer to stick around a bit longer and those eager for the leaves to turn brown. This week, we’re bringing you fresh tunes from Rauw Alejandro, Slayyyter, Rose Gray and more!
“CANNIBALISM!” by Slayyyter
From the second you hear the opening bassline on “CANNIBALISM!,” Slayyyter has your full attention. The follow up single to “BEAT UP CHANNEL$,” comes just in time for spooky season. “CANNIBALISM!” is spooky, sexy and mysterious. Slayyyter shines with her crisp production blending electronic pop with alt rock. When the chorus hits, her vocals take listeners to another world. Along with the release came a stunning music video directed by Slayyyter herself.
“GuabanSexxx” by Rauw Alejandro
Rauw Alejandro’s “GuabanSexxx” will have you dancing from the second you click play. Sonically, the track fuses Afro-Caribbean rhythms with modern electronic, house elements. If you’re looking for a song to get the party started this weekend, “GuabanSexxx” is the one.
“April” by Rose Gray
Rose Gray’s newest single “April” is an addictive dance pop track. The track’s high energy makes the song an instant club classic. This is the first taste of new music since Gray’s well received debut Louder, Please. “April” continues her skill of catchy choruses and shimmering synths.
THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY! by JADE
Former Little Mix member JADE has dropped her highly anticipated studio album. I can assure you the wait was worth it. On her debut, JADE shines, cementing herself as one of the pop girlies to keep your eyes on. Not only did she craft a beautiful dance record, she gave us theatrics, introspection and vulnerability. JADE effortlessly blends synth pop, electronic and disco elements bound to grab your attention from beginning to end. There are moments on the record like “IT girl” and “Headache” that channel everything we love about the music from the early 2000s. Yet, JADE gives a fresh take on each era that influences her sonically.
“Feels Like Forever” by Kid Bloom
Lennon Kloser, A.K.A. Kid Bloom is back with a brand new single. “Feels Like Forever” blends 70s and 80s style psych with indie rock. A groovy bassline carries the verse welcoming in shimmering synths that shine in the chorus. Kloser’s raspy vocals sing over a slick guitar solo, truly making a feel good song.
“Halfstep” by Trickstar
Musical duo Trickstar bring the heat with a heavy hitting trap track. Comprising of Ookay and Bailo, the pair hold nothing back on their latest release. The pulsating drums and hypnotic synth make the song perfect for any festival or dance floor.
“What You Need” by Jay Som
In case you missed it, Jay Som dropped the fourth single from her upcoming album Belong. Check out our rundown of the dreamy, indie pop track here.
