Happy New Music Friday to all who celebrate! This week, the Mic Drop team really outdid themselves selecting the best of the best new tunes.
Memory Foam by Sabrina Claudio
R&B singer songwriter Sabrina Claudio has given fans another taste of her forthcoming album Fall In Love With Her. Sonically, “Memory Foam” sounds reminiscent of early 2000s alt rock. Claudio delivers a dreamy vocal performance accompanied by stadium rock instrumentals. This is a brand new sound exploration for the singer. Over the years, she has become one of R&B’s most precious gems with her sultry vocals and soulful sounds. With this new era, Clauido has branched out showcasing her remarkable ability to deliver no matter what style of music she creates.
One Thing by Lola Young
Yesterday, Mic Drop featured a spotlight on overnight sensation Lola Young ahead of her new single “One Thing.” The singer liberates herself through witty lyrics, raspy vocals and a groovy beat. Young continues to be unapologetically herself on this brand new release. This is exactly why her fan base grew exponentially when her hit song “Messy” went viral. Music lovers want to see themselves reflected in the artists they stream and Lola Young does exactly that, and perfectly might I add.
Another Stone by Men I Trust
“Another Stone” is a track by Canadian indie band Men I Trust, featured on their sixth studio album, Equus Caballus. Musically, the song embodies Men I Trust’s signature blend of indie pop and dream pop, characterized by mellow instrumentation and introspective tones. The trio is the perfect band to play when relaxing and unwinding. Their vibes are immaculate and we highly recommend checking out the rest of the album.
Heartbreak by MØ
Danish singer-songwriter MØ dropped a brand new album today called Plæygirl. Out of all the tracks featured on this impressive body of work, we chose to spotlight “Heartbreak.” The track opens with a bouncy, bubbly percussion welcoming MØ’s raspy vocals. The chorus explores with vibrant synths and anthemic vocals. Lyrically, the singer pleads to a lover to show her love and avoid heartbreak.
Past Self by Sleep Token
“Past Self” is featured on English Rock band Sleep Token’s brand new album Arcadia. Lyrically, “Past Self” explores the tension between nostalgia for one’s former self and the inevitability of change. Sonically, the track is a bit softer than the usual heavy, rock sound. This element draws the listener’s attention to listen closely to the message the singer is sending.
Lethal by Rico Nasty
Rapper, singer and songwriter Rico Nasty has released a brand new album Lethal. Vocally, the rapper showcases her undeniable ability to rap in multiple styles and subgenres. Start to finish, the record is high energy and possesses a contagious energy only Rico Nasty has the ability to spread.
Love Train by Miso Extra
“Love Train” is the opening track on the debut album Earcandy by rising star Miso Extra. This track is guaranteed to be in your rotation of songs all summer long. Miso Extra blends afrobeats with sensual melodies to create a blissful track. The singer’s vocals are airy, dreamy, transporting you into another world.
