Happy New Music Friday! This week’s round features the long awaited return from Renné Rapp, fire dance tracks from Mau P and DJ HEARTSTRING, and a solo album from Joe Jonas. We hope you love everything we selected this week!
“Leave Me Alone” by Reneé Rapp
“Leave me Alone” is the first single from superstar Renné Rapp’s second studio album BITE ME. Lyrically, Rapp’s wit and sense of humor shines through. One might even argue that she takes a dig at the former show she started on “The Sex Lives Of College Girls.” Sonically, the song gives listeners a fresh take on early 2000s pop rock. The songwriter has consistently showcased her versatility, writing both emotional ballads and fun pop songs. “Leave Me Alone” is an anthem to ignore the negativity and just have fun.
“Like I Like It” by Mau P
Mau P gets the party started on his fire new track “Like I Like it.” The tech house track is undeniably infectious with its cool groove and irresistible bassline. Before its release, “Like I Like It” made appearances in several of Mau P’s sets, gaining significant buzz. How could it not? The track is an absolute banger.
“Staring Into The Sun” by DJ HEARTSTRING
Berlin based electronic duo DJ HEARTSTRING brings us a euphoric new dance track “Staring Into The Sun.” The shimmering synths and pulsating beat grabs listeners attention from the very beginning. For fans of the band Cannons, DJ HEARTSTRING samples vocals from their track “Blind Lights.”
“TaTaTa” by Burna Boy feat. Travis Scott
Burna Boy and Travis Scott join forces on a brand new track “TaTaTa.” Burna Boy brings the heat with his signature Afro beats fusion, complimented by Scott’s hypnotic vocals. The pair created a song perfect to play on a hot summer day, whether you’re at the beach or a pool party. “TaTaTa” will be featured on Burna Boy’s new album No Sign Of Weakness.
White Tiger by Calussa and Ben Miller
In case you missed it, Mic Drop dropped our Q+A with Calussa where they talked about their White Tiger EP. White Tiger is out now via their brand new label, NUSONIDO. The two track EP fuses English and Spanish global sounds to bring the heat. The collaboration between Calussa and Ben Miller was a match made in heaven. “White Tiger” and “The Power” are the kind of songs you want to dance to at a pool party under the hot summer sun.
Music For People Who Believe In Love by Joe Jonas
Fourteen years since his debut solo album, Joe Jonas is back with his second studio album, Music For People Who Believe In Love. This marks Jonas’ most personal work to date. Lyrically, the singer shows vulnerability through his heartfelt, intimate lyrics. “What This Could Be” is one of those tracks where Jonas leaves all his feelings in the song. The emotion is raw and hits the heartstrings. On tracks like “Only Love” Jonas gets groovy with playful basslines and up-tempo drums. The record features collaborations from Franklin Jonas, Sierra Ferrell, Luísa Sonza and Louane & Tiny Habits.
