Well, we’ve reached the final New Music Friday of September. Week after week, the releases only seemed to get better. The final Friday of September did not disappoint. This week we bring you brand new albums by Doja Cat and Olivia Dean along with singles from Tame Impala, Florence + The Machine and more!
Vie by Doja Cat
Today, Doja Cat released her long awaited fifth studio album. Vie leaves behind the rap and RnB album influences on Scarlett and explores heavy 80s inspired synth pop. Co-produced by Jack Antonoff, Doja finds her way back to the pop roots on her earlier projects like Hot Pink and Planet Her. The first and only single, “Jealous Type,” set the mood for Doja’s synth driven and playful project. SZA joins the album for another unforgettable Doja collab on “Take Me Dancing.” The song’s groovy bassline and sultry vocals are bound to get you grooving. Doja’s grand return to pop is a sweet homecoming that we will have on repeat all weekend.
The Art of Loving by Olivia Dean
One of summer’s breakout artists, Olivia Dean, released her highly anticipated album The Art of Loving. On her second album, Dean creates a world of lush, sultry sounds easy for anyone to get lost in. The record features the highly praised tracks “Man I Need” and “Lady Lady.” Dean’s songwriting is an exploration of a variety of love: self-love, platonic love and romantic love. The album features happiness, heartbreak and joy all served with jazz, soul and RnB influences.
“Dracula” by Tame Impala
We officially welcomed the first day of fall this week, and Tame Impala dropped a haunting track ahead of spook season. From the hypnotic vocals that open the track, “Dracula” will have you hooked. The mastermind behind Tame Impala, Kevin Parker, has outdone himself yet again. This marks the third single from Deadbeat. Already this record is dancefloor leaning rooted in deep grooves. It also feels like Parker’s most honest, intimate songwriting to date. Each track makes you want to dance, but it also demands you listen to what he is saying.
“One Of The Greats” by Florence + The Machine
Speaking of spooky season, Florence + The Machine dropped the chilling, second single from their forthcoming album Everybody Scream. On “One Of The Greats” front woman, Florence Welch, dives deep into gender, fame and power. She explores the dynamics within the music industry that she has encountered as a woman. As the song progresses, the soft rock instrumentation never takes away listeners attention from what she is saying. The track is quite captivating.
“Teardrop” by BANKS
BANKS’ “Teardrop” marks her first release since her 2025 album Off With Her Head. The haunting cover of the Massive Attack track features atmospheric instrumentation with soft vocals. BANKS shines with ethereal and ambient sound captivating listeners from the moment they hit play.
“Automatic” by NIIKO X SWAE, Honey & Badger
Two power house duos NIIKO X SWAE and Honey & Badger join forces for a dancefloor ready hit. “Automatic” brings together retro synths, punchy drums and a hard hitting bassline to create tech house perfection.
September was absolutely stacked! We’ll see you back here for the first New Music Friday of October!
