Music: The Only Constant In This Constantly Evolving World

We’re only in the third month of 2020 and it’s already been one hell of a roller coaster ride to say the least. Catastrophic events are typically inevitable and unfortunately happen more than we would like on a global scale, but the atrocity of this ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is getting out of hand. This worldwide outbreak is affecting our daily lives, our health, and every single industry that stands, including our unique music industry. It’s devastating to see our world in complete chaos, but at least one thing still remains constant: music.

For many, including myself, music is what keeps us going. It’s what takes our minds off of all the negativity that creeps in from time to time. It’s what keeps us alive during a time like this, and we’re so lucky to be able to rely on it to keep us sane and full of hope. While music aficionados like myself can’t bask in all the upcoming music festivals and live music events that have been cancelled or postponed this season because of COVID-19, we must continue to look at the bright side of life. And we can with the power of music.

A plethora of events have been cancelled all over the world, including some of our favorite music festivals like Tomorrowland Winter in France, Ultra Music Festival in Miami, BUKU Music + Art Project in New Orleans, and even Coachella has been postponed until October. Even huge live entertainment companies like Live Nation have mandated to stop all ongoing and future tours due to COVID-19. These decisions have already impacted our industry tremendously, but they needed to take place to save us in the long-run. Things have taken a huge turn these past couple of weeks, a series of unfortunate events if you will.

But now that we’ve all come to realize that this outbreak is bound to last longer than expected, the music industry has responded in some of the most creative and positive ways possible. Instead of basking in all the negativity and anxiety of this pandemic, we’ve all chosen to let the music guide us along the way and creativity levels have truly peaked. Our favorite artists may not be able to showcase their talents to us live, but they surely can in the safety of their own home via live-streams. So much positive energy has radiated because of this concept, and it’s incredible to witness how influential music truly is despite all the turmoil.

We can complain all we want, but it’s how we choose to view things that affect our lives in the long-run. In a world where everything is constantly changing and evolving, we’re lucky enough to even know that music is the one constant factor to help us reach the finish line. Hopefully, this all completely fades away sooner than later. But in the meantime, it sure is reassuring to know that we can always turn to music as we ride this wave in unison. I believe our world is bound to shine brighter and spin around stronger than ever before once this all comes to an end. After all, music truly is what unites us all at the end of the day.
