by Nathan Corrál

In the heart of Highland Park stands one of LA’s dreamiest venues. Over the years, The Lodge Room has seen performances from esteemed artists like Khruangbin, Phoebe Bridgers and Billy Corgan. A special energy can be felt in the room by each and every fan that fills the room on show nights. Last Friday, indie folk rock band, Oracles Sisters, joined the list of remarkable acts to take the stage at the iconic Lodge Room.

Oracle Sisters On the Road

Just a few weeks ago, Oracle Sisters hit the road on their North American tour in support of their second album Divinations. The album was received with much praise, and rightfully so. On Divinations, the three piece comes together after a whirlwind cycle of touring their first record to create a masterpiece. Sonically the trio explores a brand new playground, giving listeners a fresh sound rooted in everything fans love about them.

Ahead of the tour, I had the pleasure of interviewing one of the members, Christopher Willatt. After chatting with him about the new album and what was in store for the live shows on this run, I was quite excited to see them play. Check out my interview with Chris here.

On Friday night, Oracle Sisters brought their magical energy live on stage during a sold out show at The Lodge Room.

Friday Night Lights

Inside, The Lodge Room’s interior features vintage style decor transporting fans to a totally different place. The Victorian chandeliers and giant star hanging from the ceiling set the mood immediately. It was the perfect venue to experience a set from Oracle Sisters.

Oracle Sisters comprises Lewis Lazar, Christopher Willatt, and Julia Johansen. An eager crowd greeted the band with cheers and chants as they took the stage. The show opened with “Riverside,” the dreamy first track on Divinations. Instantly, the entire room was transported to the Oracle Sisters’ sonic world. An on stage chemistry amongst the trio gleamed throughout their whole show. Personally, I rarely get to watch musical trios, so witnessing the magic between Oracle Sisters was quite special.

One of my favorite moments of the show is when the band stripped their set down. Julia took center stage with Lewis on one side and Chris on the other to play their song “High Moon.” That moment was beautiful, intimate. It captivated the crowd. The trio’s talent and chemistry shined vividly in the soft, quiet moment when they slowed their set down. Their set consisted of new tracks “The Dandelion” and “Alouette.” The energy was through the roof when the band played “Blue Left Hand.” Oracle Sister’s show at The Lodge Room was one of the best I’ve seen in a while. They played off the crowd’s energy, captivating our attention start to finish.
