Is Bryson Tiller The New King of Christmas Music?

Are you the type to set up Christmas decorations after Halloween is over? Or do you wait until after Thanksgiving dinner to dust off the decor from the attic? Seeing the Christmas trees from the windows, the smell of Pillsbury elf cookies, and driving around to look at the twinkling lights are a few of my favorite things. But what really gets me in the holiday spirit is a good Christmas song. We have the classics “All I Want For Christmas” by Mariah Carey and “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber, but I think a few new jingles have been created by Bryson Tiller.

Tiller grew in popularity with his two songs “Don’t” and “Exchange” from his first album TRAPSOUL. After dropping another album in 2017, he went on hiatus until 2020. He’s always teasing about dropping constantly but he never really got around to it. To fans’ surprise, he drops a Christmas album halfway through November.

He posted the tracklist just a week before he actually released it. Named A Different Christmas, the theme of the album is about being lonely on Christmas. Not to my surprise, he included one of his classic interludes called “cold december interlude”.

It included features from Justin Bieber, Poo Bear, and an unfamiliar feature with the name “Halo” on the classic “Winter Wonderland”. Nothing was more adorable than finding out “Halo” is Harley Tiller’s stage name, and the song was a daddy-daughter duet. Now the rendition is trending all over Tik Tok applauding the duo.

When I first heard “lonely christmas”, it just sounded like the new pop Christmas song. The Justin Bieber feature and Tiller going all-in on his verse, makes you want to blast the song with the windows down no matter how cold it is outside.

If you’re bored of the same old holiday music, I recommend switching it up to Bryson Tiller’s new album. He brings a new R&B voice that the Christmas music genre is lacking.
