After a few years of little activity from the pop sensation, it appears she’s finally back. After an incredible show stopping New Year’s Eve performance, the singer announced she will be releasing a new single followed by a new album. It seems like all signs are pointing to 2023 being the year of Miley Cyrus.
NEW YEAR’S EVE recap
The highly anticipated New Year’s Eve special was hosted by Miley Cyrus and her godmother, Dolly Parton. The energy was extremely high, and the anticipation delivered. To start the night off, the duo opened with the iconic Joan Jett song “I Love Rock N’ Roll”. Miley and Dolly sang a bunch of selections from their past including “Wrecking Ball”, “Party in the U.S.A.,” “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You.”
They kept it fresh and lively with some comedic sketches written by the writers of Saturday Night Live, featuring the two talented singer/actresses. Overall Miley absolutely delivered and teased audiences with a sneak peak of her new single “Flowers”.
but it’s not all sunshine and roses…
The Cyrus Family has been in the spotlight for almost 2 decades now. Miley and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, co-starred in the hit Disney Channel TV show “Hannah Montana”. Despite their solid family image, recently there has been drama that has shaken the once cohesive unit. This comes at the tail of her parent’s divorce, mainly concerning her father’s new relationship/engagement.
In November of this past year, Billy Ray Cyrus announced he was engaged to a 34-year-old woman. This sparked major controversy due to the age gap, especially because he met her years ago when she was a minor on the set of “Hannah Montana”. Accordingly, Miley has spoken out publicly, criticizing her father’s decisions.

However, it seems like no matter what life throws at Miley, she is an unstoppable creative force. She has turned all of her pain into art, which is inspiring to say the least. She announced that she will be releasing a new album in 2023, the projected date is to be March 10th– Endless Summer Vacation. She hasn’t released an album since 2020 with Plastic Hearts, so fans are quite excited. Her new single “Flowers” was released today, January 13th.
I am excited to see what this new album brings. The multi-faceted singer always brings something different with lots of passion, and I have no doubt in this new era that she will continue to do so.
