Coachella weekend one begins in exactly one day. Set times are out, and it’s time to decide which sets to catch. As always, Coachella has delivered a diverse set of talent and endless options of artists to see. Here are five must-sees for your weekend in the desert.
Charli XCX
After one of her biggest years in music, Charli XCX is returning to Coachella to give one of the most anticipated performances from any artist on the lineup this year. On her and Troye Sivan’s co-headline SWEAT tour this past year, Charli XCX brought out countless guests. The possibilities are endless. During the SWEAT tour she brought out Addison Rae, Billie Eillish and Lorde, just to name a few. A live show by the superstar is a party from start to finish. There is no doubt that Charli will bring her A-game when she takes the Main Stage at Coachella on Saturday night.
Sammy Virji
UK Garage sensation Sammy Virji takes the Sahara Tent on the third and final day of the festival. The DJ’s innovation in the dance music community has earned him a massive following. He seamlessly blends UK Garage with Bass House rhythms to create a unique sound. If Virji’s Boiler Room set is any indication of what he is going to bring at Coachella, it is about to get crazy. His set is one you won’t want to miss.
The Marías
Psychedelic soul band, The Marías, are returning to the desert for their third appearance at the festival. On Friday night, the band will take over the Outdoor Theater, bringing songs from their critically acclaimed second album Submarine to life. Last week the band dropped two fresh singles ahead of their performance: “Back To Me” and “Nobody Knew.” Shortly before, The Marías made an appearance on Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s new album I Said I Love You First.
Many people have speculated that Selena Gomez may get brought out as a special guest during their set. Maybe Bad Bunny too?
Regardless of who they do or don’t bring out, The Marías know how to put on a stunning show.
Amaarae
Sunday evening at the Gobi Tent, singer-songwriter Amaarae will be taking the stage for her Coachella debut. Amaarae beautifully blends pop, R&B and Afro-beats to create an addicting sound. Her music is full of soul and life. She recently collaborated with Childish Gambino and Jorja Smith on “In The Night” on Gambino’s latest record. With an already large fan base, Amaarae’s set this weekend will only bring her more and more listeners. Her style of music is perfect for the hot desert setting.
Moon Boots
New York native, Moon Boots, will be spinning groovy tunes in the Yuma Tent on Friday afternoon. Last month, the DJ released a banger track “Hold Me Tight” on SG Lewis’ label Forever Days. Moon Boots has an impeccable discography full of tones and sounds perfect for the iconic Yuma Tent at Coachella. His set is guaranteed to be a non-stop dance party, and a perfect way to start the weekend under the desert sky.
