Eurodance Is Back Thanks To DJ Crazy Times

The newest song of the summer may come as a surprise. It’s not on the charts or the radio. In fact, it hasn’t even been released to stream yet. But after a TikTok went viral of comedian Kyle Gordon’s Eurodance parody, fans begged for more.

Kyle turned his fifty-second comedy video into a full-fledged EDM track. Without even listening to the full version, millions of views, likes, and shares declared that “Planet of The Bass” was the song of the summer. The highly anticipated Eurodance anthem finally comes out tomorrow on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music.

WHO IS DJ Crazy Times?

Kyle Gordon’s TikTok skits feature all kinds of characters, from “British explorers” to “Southern dads”. His most viral role, however, seems to be the pink-haired, swim-goggle-wearing, alter ego “DJ Crazy Times.” On July 28th, Kyle, along with actor Audrey Trullinger (who plays the original Ms. Biljana Electronica), uploaded a video with the caption “Every European Dance Song in the 1990s.”

What started out as another one of Kyle’s satirical skits snowballed into a song that’s genuinely entertaining  for everyone. Even Amy Poehler’s a fan. With eight million views and counting, it’s safe to say Gordon’s viral video means Crazy Times and Miss Electronica are headed for stardom.

Why Planet Of The Bass Is So Good?

It’s hard to pinpoint what exactly makes “Planet of The Bass” so hypnotic. Everything is parodied in a way that’s scarily accurate to the flamboyance found in Eurodance, even down to the way Crazy Times nonchalantly replaces his co-star with a different girl in each subsequent video.

Another huge selling point is nostalgia. DJ Crazy Times and Ms. Biljana Electronica have effortlessly captured peak ’90s attire . From their outrageously huge cargo pants to puka shell necklaces, it’s a perfectly executed throwback.

The lyrics range from silly lines about women to random inspirational phrases, all blended together in a seriously catchy song. The beat is something you’d definitely hear in a throwback playlist or at any random club in Europe. It’s no surprise that after two or three listens, it’s stuck in your head.

So yes, Eurodance is Back

To add to the excitement surrounding the release, DJ Crazy Times performed “Planet of The Bass” live last week at a club in Brooklyn. The crowd knew almost every word. Comments cheered for the revival of a seemingly lost genre and laughed at the fact that an Internet comedian was the one to bring it back.

With enthusiasm from every side of TikTok, it’s safe to say tomorrow’s “Planet of The Bass” debut is the beginning of Eurodance’s long-awaited renaissance.
