Dream Perfect Regime, also known as DPR. A company made up of a group of friends who allow themselves complete creative control of all their media. An introduction into new artists known as DPR to broaden your music taste and expand your playlist.
The members of DPR come together in Seoul, South Korea to write, produce, edit, and direct all their own music and visual content. They are an independent entertainment company, reduced to a group of, basically, close friends.
Thanks to a good friend of mine, who introduced me to this group of people, I dove into their community of amazing fans. At first glance, the amount of content, music, and information surrounding DPR can be a bit intimidating, but after getting to know this family-like company, you just want to know more.
But who is DPR? Well, let me give you an introduction.
DPR LIVE (IG)
The frontman of the group is Hong Dabin, most commonly known as DPR Live. Dabin is the man behind the “Coming to you live,” tagline, the tell-tale sign that a hit song is coming your way.
From Guam to South Korea, he was in pursuit of his dream to be a performer. He can rap, sing, and keep you engaged on what he’s got to say through his art.
His solo debut was March 2017 with the EP Coming To You Live and his most recent album, IITE COOL, came out in July of this year.
DPR IAN (IG)
From Sydney, Australia, Christian Yu is the founder, director, chief editor, and as of 2020, a singing artist of DPR. He was not new to the music scene, before DPR he was in a K-pop group known as C-CLOWN, which unfortunately disbanded in 2015.
According to an article on him by Billboard, DPR Ian offers his “artistic vision and music versatility”, by exploring alternative R&B, pop, rock, and electronica.
He offers a 13-minute documentary titled Memories in Disorder, about the process behind his album Moodswings In This Order, where he showcases his mind behind the magic. This album also has his debut song “So Beautiful”.
DPR CREAM (IG)
The musical producer, Kim Kyung Mo, born and raised in S.K., he started his musical journey in 2011. CREAM joined the DPR crew in 2015 after the release of “Till I Die.”
His debut was “The Voyager 737,” which was released on July 2019. In an interview with Billboard he says,
The car I’m seen in pictured in is The Voyager 737 — it is the craft that allows me to travel beyond through the music I create. I believe everyone has their own color, therefore their own universe. Thus, I’d like to use my artistic platform as a way to explore various sounds, various topics, and ultimately make music that can touch a wide range of people.DPR CREAM
DPR REM (IG)
Coming from New York, Scott Kim is the creative director and executive producer behind it all. He takes care a lot of the managing side of the company, and is openly positive about the freedom offered to him in the company.
When he came to Seoul, he met Amber Liu, formerly from a group named f(x), who introduced him to Ian. This friendship later allowed him to be added into the crew.
Jimmy Cline, Live’s cousin and supporter who made an appearance in the Please and Playlist music video.
On March 15, 2017, the EP “Coming To You Live,” was released. It took about a year to make this EP that consists of seven different songs that includes a variety of artists such as; Crush, Jay Park, Loco, and DEAN.
Recently, the company released IITE COOL, an album with six songs, my favorites being between “Boom,” “Yellow Cab,” and “Hula Hoops.”
So, interested in what they have to offer? I know that after many saw them preform at Head in The Clouds this year, their fanbase has grown. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
