The Two Sides of Two Feet’s Summer

Singer/songwriter and wildly talented guitar player Zachary William “Bill” Dess, more commonly known as Two Feet, had a whirlwind of a summer to say the least. While on tour through the months of June, July, and August, he struggled very publicly with drug and alcohol abuse, as well as serious mental health concerns.

After walking out of shows and an array of troubling tweets, on July 31st, 2018 fans were stunned. Reports of an attempted suicide were circling the internet as fans monitored in heartbreak. On August 5th, his father broke the silence with a tweet explaining that Bill was alive in the hospital and under observation. A few weeks later, things got even more real. Two Feet bravely released an official statement to his fans, explaining the events leading up to his suicide attempt with such transparency and vulnerability. His honesty on such a personal subject attests to the artist and the human being that he really is. His statement can be found here: bit.ly/2NBSE3m .

This, however, is not the most notable thing about his summer. Just a month later on September 4th, Two Feet released his song “Hurt People” featuring Madison Love and it was an instant hit, one which I admittedly still belt out probably too many times a day (sorry not sorry).

There is something really special about Two Feet’s music. I was fortunate enough to see him perform at Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival in March 2018, and it was the first time that an artist ever truly made me feel like the only girl in the crowd. Maybe that’s because I was one of the very few who was screaming every word to “Your Mother Was Cheaper” (my personal favorite), “Love Is A B*tch,“Had Some Drinks, and every other song on the set list. Nonetheless, it was a show I will forever cherish.

See, Two Feet makes the kind of music that demands you move your body, whether your clothes are on or off… now that’s up to you. There is an unapologetic sexiness and grungy elegance to his music that is hard to explain until you let yourself get lost in it, which is why he is one of my favorite artists.

His story continues to ascend. Fast forward another month and he releases his EP “A 20 Something F*ck” on October 5th and I have not stopped playing it since. While a few of the songs were already released as singles, like his more famous “I Feel Like I’m Drowning” and my personal favorite from the EP, “Same Old Song (S.O.S Part 1),” fans (including myself) had our expectations surpassed with this short but sexy collection of melodies. He also tweeted that the second half of the album will be in the works and hopefully released sometime next year. I’ll be counting the days, but until then you can find part 1 of “A 20 Something F*ck here: spoti.fi/2OD9eDL  – you can thank me later.

But wait, it doesn’t stop there. In typical Two Feet fashion, he uploaded an unreleased song titled called “Lost The Game” to his YouTube channel on Thursday Oct 11. Like any song of his, my eyes close, a smirk creeps across my face and my body starts to sway. Now don’t just take my word for it, give it a listen yourselfhttps://youtu.be/xZRPel_42HI
