Tenille Arts’ Career Blooms on The Bachelor

Interview With Tenille Arts

We caught up with country star Tenille Arts on everything from Arie’s final rose to her new life in Nashville. You may recognize her from this season of ABC’s The Bachelor, where she performed her single “Moment of Weakness”. In 2017, she surpassed a million streams on Apple Music and 2 million total streams. Arts released her first full-length album “Rebel Child” in October 2017, having co-written 10 of the 11 songs. It debuted at #2 on the iTunes Canada Top Country Albums Chart, #12 on the All-Genres Chart, and #34 in the United States.

Q: You made your national television debut on this season of ABC’s The Bachelor, how have things changed since you performed on Arie and Chelsea’s one on one date?

A: It has been really busy for me since that performance! It has been amazing to see how many people have purchased or streamed the song I performed called “Moment of Weakness”. My favorite thing has been connecting with new fans on social media who saw me perform and found all of my other music because of the show!

Q: You were born in a small town in Saskatchewan, then moved to Nashville to pursue country music. Is there a big country music scene in Canada? What made you gravitate towards this genre?

A: There is a big country music scene in Canada! We have the CCMA’s which is similar to the CMA’s and we have huge country music festivals across the country. I gravitated towards this genre because I grew up listening to The Dixie Chicks and Shania Twain. They really inspired me to follow my dreams to be a country singer. I love the storytelling in country music and I started coming to Nashville when I was 15 because I wanted to learn from people in the heart of country music.

Q: You have an incredible soulful voice perfect for country and play the guitar, do you come from a musical background or are you self-taught?

A: Everyone in my family is musical and they appreciate music, but no one else has pursued it as a career. I started playing piano and taking voice lessons at a young age, and then around age 14 I learned guitar and started writing music. I was pretty much self-taught on the guitar at first but I’ve had some great teachers along the way!

Q: You released your first full length album Rebel Child in October, and it debuted at #2. Is this something you could have ever expected as an independent artist?

A: As an independent artist I didn’t know what to expect! I knew I had extremely supportive people following my career and interested in my music, but I wasn’t expecting such a high chart placement! It means a lot to me that people actually bought the album. I can’t thank them enough!

Q: Your Rebel Child deluxe album came out last Friday, what has been added to this new edition?

A: The Deluxe Edition album came out on February 9th, and we added a couple special songs to it! We added two versions of “Moment of Weakness” (The song I performed on The Bachelor). One version is the single, and the other version is acoustic. Then I added a song from my debut EP called “Wildfire and Whiskey” and a cover song that I perform in my live show called “Black Velvet”!

Q: Any predictions on who will be getting the final rose?

A: My opinion changes every week! I’m really excited to see the end of this season. I love the final episodes with The Women Tell All and After the Final Rose!
