Meet BENEE, the 19-year-old singer-songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand.
It’s evident the New Zealand native isn’t afraid to take risks. BENEE’s “genre-bending” sound is complete with funky basslines and electronic effects, topped with relatable lyrics. After posting a few covers to her SoundCloud page, she eventually caught the attention of other artists and professionals in the music industry. BENEE dropped out of college just weeks into her freshman year to pursue a career in music.
Shortly after releasing her debut single in 2017, BENEE dropped her 2018 single “Soaked.” The song has earned almost 20,000,000 streams on Spotify to date.
This year, BENEE is back with a slew of singles and an EP that is scheduled to release this Friday. Though it seems she hasn’t gained traction here in the U.S. yet, her single “Evil Spider” is currently the 24th most searched song on Shazam in New Zealand. Get hip to her while you can – she’s a refreshingly dynamic artist whose career is sure to skyrocket.
