SONGS OF THE SUMMER: WHAT’S ON YOUR PLAYLIST?

Summer’s coming up shortly, and I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for all the beach day vibes. What better way to prepare for the season than to create a playlist and set the soundtrack to your summer? Here are a few of my top picks:

Joshua Bassett - Feel Something (Lyric Video) - YouTube

Feel Something – Joshua Bassett

This is Joshua’s first single since he released his E.P. It’s an upbeat anthem about being bored, taking the town, and doing whatever they want just to feel better about their repetitive lives they’re living. This is the perfect song to resemble letting go of the school year, especially with everything going on with online learning. It’s finally time to relax and let go of all the stress of the past year.

Giveon and Daniel Caesar Top Billboard Hot 100 for First Time With 'Peaches' - Rated R&B

Peaches – Justin Bieber featuring GIVEON and Daniel Caesar

This summer bop has three of our favorite artists – Justin Bieber, Giveon, and Daniel Caesar. There was so much hype around this song just with those names alone. I know it’s early, but this is my bet for the song of the summer. It’s got that funky beat that you can’t help but vibe out to. As soon as I heard the song, I imagined myself on a sunny day with the windows down, driving to the beach.

Dua Lipa Enlists DaBaby for New “Levitating” Remix: Listen | Pitchfork

Levitating – Dua Lipa feat DaBaby

Levitating has been a favorite for a while. It’s such a fun song about the process of falling in love. And who doesn’t love a good DaBaby feature? This is the perfect pop song for those summer nights. Even though the song was released in October of 2020, it’s still in heavy rotation.

Olivia Rodrigo vying for Irish Number 1 single with Good 4 U

good 4 u – Olivia Rodrigo

Major key to the perfect summer playlist- a song you can scream to with the windows down. Olivia Rodrigo released the perfect song for this. The track is about Olivia addressing her ex moving on so quickly. Throughout the verses, she adds a lower or darker undertone in the song to match her sarcasm, then her rage builds up to the chorus. A hot girl summer anthem, baby!

Trippie Redd & Playboi Carti Join Forces on Anticipated Single 'Miss The Rage': Listen | HipHop-N-More

Miss the Rage – Trippie Redd featuring Playboi Carti

What’s a playlist without a few rap songs? This song was trending on Tik Tok before it was even released. Redd named it “Miss the Rage” after being in quarantine and not being able to perform and go crazy and festivals. We’re with you, Trippie. With everything slowly opening up, maybe there’s hope for a Trippie Redd performance in the near future.

Here’s my complete summer playlist so far! What are you guys listening to?
