reggaeton takeover

REGGAETON IS HAVING A MOMENT

Over the last decade, Reggaeton has finally gotten the shine it deserves. The genre and it’s stars have been dominating the music industry lately. Latinx artists have managed to garner even more recognition from 2018 to now, especially those within música urbana sub-genres like reggaetón and Latin trap.

Artists such as J Balvin, Maluma, Bad Bunny, Karol G and Natti Natasha have been topping the charts, selling out shows and steadily becoming more and more popular and recognized.

For those of us who love reggaeton, this is great news, because if it’s more mainstream…we get to hear it being played more often! We get to dance to it at parties, we get to hear it live at music festivals, we get to hear it on the radio!

So, if you don’t listen to reggaeton or you just need some new suggestions…

HERE ARE A FEW SONGS I THINK YOU SHOULD LOVE

“gasolina” – Daddy yankee

Let’s start off with a CLASSIC. You can’t tell me you’ve never heard this song. This track has been iconic since its release in 2004, and I don’t think it will ever stop.

“yo perreo sola” – bad bunny

You can’t have a reggaeton playlist without a Bad Bunny song. I loved every song on Bad Bunny’s album, YHLQMDLG, so it wasn’t easy to choose one song to recommend. I think this one might be my favourite (a close runner up is “La Santa“)

“Súbelo” – Anuel aa, myke towers & jhay cortez

Three great artists on one track? Of course it’s gonna be amazing.

“yo x ti, tu x mi” -Rosalía & ozuna

I’ve never heard a song from Rosalía that I didn’t like. Rosalía’s voice, Ozuna’s voice and steel pan instrumentals…sign me up.

“La cancion” – J Balvin & Bad Bunny

Let’s get a little sad and slow but still keep the vibes going with this J Balvin x Bad Bunny track. I love love love love this song. The vocals and the trumpet?? *chef’s kiss* Please listen to this song a million times.

AND SOME honourable mentions…

I hope these tracks ignite a new reggaeton passion in your life!
