Olivia Rodrigo Takes The White House- Good 4 U Girl!

WEDNESDAY: A black car rolls up to the White House. It is carrying a smiling and confident young lady whose debut single “Drivers License” catapulted her to international fame in January (though, ironically, she probably isn’t the one driving). She steps out of the car and into the West Wing clad in a lovely pink plaid number that would have made Jackie proud.

But Olivia (Rodrigo, for those of you who have awoken from a 7 month coma) isn’t just taking a tour. She was invited to the White House to speak at a press briefing about vaccinations for people ages 12 to 27. Due to her immense popularity among Generation Z, I think that she was an excellent choice!

It was first revealed when President Biden posted a picture of his young self to his Instagram account with the caption: “I know this young person would have gotten vaccinated, but we’ve got to get other young people protected as well. Who’s willing to help?” Olivia earnestly responded with: “i’m in! see you tomorrow at the White House!”

And here’s Olivia at the hallowed Speakers Podium! Here’s a bit of what she had to say:

“I’m in awe of the work President Biden and Dr. Fauci have done and was happy to help lend my support to this important initiative,” she said. “It’s important to have conversations with friends and family members, encouraging all communities to get vaccinated and actually get to a vaccination site, which you can do more easily than ever before given how many sites we have and how easy it is to find them at vaccines.gov.”

Short, yet effective. Just like getting vaccinated! *wink wink nudge nudge*

Olivia’s debut album Sour was released two months ago and is still now the 1# album in the country, including singles like “Déjà Vu” and “Good 4 U”.

Huh. Good 4 U. Just like a vaccine! *wink wink wink nudge nu-* okay I’ll stop now.

From a house on fire to the White House in a matter of weeks! *sniff* I’m so proud .

And obviously, Twitter had to step in with some jokes.

I know that these jokes are silly, but I think they are exactly what we want in this situation. Young people are clearly paying attention to her, and considering the message she is spreading, they will be more incentivized to get vaccinated too! Even with restrictions on young people being vaccinated in places like Tennessee, young people are better understanding the importance of being vaccinated to not only protect themselves, but those around them. And hopefully, one day we can eradicate this horrible virus from the earth and every other virus with it! When young people band together to change the world, anything can happen.

Let’s just hope this ends better than the last time a pop singer came to the White House.
