Jeremy Zucker Assures It’s “OK” On New Single

After wrapping up a tour with The Kid LAROI and releasing a Valentine’s Day single, these first few months of 2023 have been quite busy for indie pop artist Jeremy Zucker. But it’s clear this up-and-comer is showing no signs of slowing down. Recently, Zucker announced that a new song was coming Friday, May 12th titled “OK.” This news of a brand-new era is undoubtedly exciting, but how did it pan out?

The Sound

In typical Jeremy Zucker fashion, “OK” is a laidback indie pop cut with hints of electronic music tossed in there. The instrumental leans more upbeat with a bouncy guitar riff on top of the synths and drums. I like the synths behind Zucker on the chorus. His vocals follow suit by being incredibly soothing throughout the song. Despite keeping it more lowkey, he still can fit so much emotion into his singing, especially on the intense bridge. Zucker loves to go all out on these parts of his songs. His singing gets louder and more distorted as the instrumental does the same.

The Story

The meaning behind this song is quite wholesome. It serves as a gentle reminder to fans that everything will be okay. Zucker wanted to write “OK” as “a way to connect with anyone who doesn’t feel ok, a way to let them know that I’m here.” The lyrics see him checking in on a friend, seeing how they’re feeling, and ensuring they’re taking care of themselves. It is a beautiful and reassuring message that he has blessed us with. For someone who might be stuck in a wave of depression or anxiety, it is cathartic to hear.

My Thoughts

As an avid fan and someone who has struggled with depression and anxiety, I could not recommend this song enough. This song feels like a warm hug. It is nice to have that reminder that everything is alright. Whenever I throw it on, I get lost in the music and believe that message. The music video is an excellent companion to the song as well. It shows Zucker letting loose and having fun in various scenes of nature. That feels like the perfect activity to do while listening to this song.

And listen to it, you should. If you have heard the song, what did you think of it? If you haven’t, please change that ASAP! You would be doing yourself a disservice by not checking it out. See you next week!
