Long Beach, California trio half•alive bring a fresh take to indie rock. Members Josh Taylor (vocals), J Tyler Johnson (bass), and Brett Kramer (drums) effortlessly infuse pop and funk elements into their alternative sound that are guaranteed to get you dancing.
The group is adept at pairing lyrics that address self-discovery, aimlessness, and hopelessness with incredible beats; a dichotomy mastered by the likes of Paramore and Twenty One Pilots.
Half•alive released their debut EP entitled 3 in 2017, and have since released a slew of singles in anticipation for their debut LP Now, Not Yet.
In regards to those aforementioned dance moves, the band is well known for theirs. The trio garnered quite a following after their well-choreographed music video for “Still Feel” went viral in 2018. The video has almost 25 million views to date.
Now, Not Yet is set to release on August 9. The band premiered the album’s tracklist on their social media last Thursday, and it left fans nothing short of enthusiastic. The record boasts features from indie pop icon Kimbra and soul/R&B singer Samm Henshaw.
