Ending the Decade with JACKBOYS

Earlier this year, Travis Scott promised his fans one last project before the end of 2019. On December 27, 2019, the wait was finally over and JACKBOYS was released. The album is a collaboration project featuring Don Toliver, Sheck Wes, Quavo, Offset, Young Thug, Pop Smoke, Lil Baby, and ROSALÍA. Consisting of only 7 songs, JACKBOYS opened with a new and improved version of “HIGHEST IN THE ROOM”. This variation of the song features Lil Baby’s rhymes and ROSALÍA’s vocals.

Out of the seven songs, “HAD ENOUGH” and “WHAT TO DO?” rank high on my repeat list. Travis Scott’s influence to hip-hop is undeniable. The album has already accumulated over 34 million streams, with only five days on the charts. Music videos for the songs “GATTI”, “JACKBOYS”, and “GANG GANG” have exploded on YouTube as well.

Although Travis is my #1, I think Don Toliver truly took over here. Don Toliver’s voice is so unique and has captured fans since being featured on Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD track, “CAN’T SAY”. JACKBOYS gives Toliver the spotlight he deserves and allows him to showcase his talent. Soon enough, you’ll be hearing the Houston native again. JACKBOYS was a great addition to everyone’s 2019 playlists, and may have also created a larger fan base for the Cactus Jack roster.
