“Regret You” is the first single off of Daisy Jones and Six’s first album Aurora. The band has been together since the 70s and they are completely fictional.
If you’re unaware, Daisy Jones and The Six is an Amazon Prime TV Show coming out on March 3rd. The show is based off of the book of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The show stars Riley Keough and Sam Clafin as lead singers Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne respectively. It also features well known stars like Suki Waterhouse, Camila Morrone, Will Harrison and more.
The book follows the tumultuous career of Daisy Jones and The Six from the very beginning of their careers until the very end. Throughout the book, readers are told the names of songs as well as the lyrics.
When the show got picked up by Amazon Prime, it was decided that they would actually be releasing one of the most popular albums from the book, Aurora. Riley Keough and Sam Clafin will continue as their characters on the album and release the songs that fans have only read about.
Daisy Jones and The Six
The book takes place in the 1970s so the album is very much 70s rock inspired. Think of something similar to Fleetwood Mac. Author Taylor Jenkins Reid recorded a message on Spotify in December of 2022: “Dear Listener, in 2016 I had an idea for a story about an explosive 70s rock band. I named that band Daisy Jones and The Six. For years readers have asked me what the band sounds like, well, now you are getting an answer. Aurora exists and it is a stunning, nostalgic, timeless album. Daisy Jones and The Six are real and they are better than my wildest dreams.”
Not only are fans going to get to watch their favorite book come to life, but they will also now be able to hear the music they read about. As a fan of this book myself, I could not be more excited to listen to this entire album. An album I thought only existed in the mind of Taylor Jenkins Reid.
