New music Friday this week was full of highly anticipated drops, like Olivia O’Brien’s new EP, Culture III from Migos, and Clairo’s new track. But the one I was most excited for was Megan the Stallion’s single.
The GRAMMY award-winning artist posted that she was back from her month-long hiatus as “Ms. Snow” just last Sunday.
I bet you’re wondering… Who is Tina Snow?!
If you’ve been following Megan since the beginning, you probably know the answer. But if you’re new to the Megan fandom, Snow is just one of three of Megan’s alter-egos. She’s is all about being confident and she’s not going to take any sh*t from anyone. In an interview with Zach Sang, she said “Tina Snow is the side of me that’s a little more gangster. She’s just foot-down, f*** y’all!”. So those are the vibes we can expect from her new album.
Her other personas are appropriately named Hot Girl Meg and Suga. Hot Girl Meg, from her album Fever, is all about telling women and men to be themselves and have a good time without any worries. Suga, from her rise to fame album, supports her fans in telling them it’s okay to not be perfect.
The Monday after Tina’s return, she announced her new single Thot Shit. She pays tribute to the alter-ego, with a candy shop theme and a “Tina O’s” cereal box for the cover art. She’s bringing back this persona for her sixth studio album “Tina Snow II”.
Megan posted a series of cryptic photos at the end of May, around the beginning of summer. The photos were of her in the tube appearing to be asleep. The post had no caption, just the message: “Due to the demands of the Hot Girl Lifestyle, Meg has now entered a period of regeneration to prepare for what’s next.”
Now everyone was freaking out: How are we supposed to have a hot girl summer without the OG Hot Girl?!?
Well, she’s returned as Tina Snow just in time for the beginning of summer. Her confident attitude is exactly what we need for our first summer since the pandemic.
Thot Shit sounds pretty similar to her other songs, but it especially reminds me of WAP. It has the same flow as her verse in WAP, but there’s nothing wrong with a classic Megan song to start off her next chapter.
