Shaky Beats: 2019’s Must-See Acts

Festival season is surely underway and it is only going to heat up as summer approaches. This year’s Shaky Beats is jam packed with quality artists and it was very difficult to narrow this list down to just five sets. From residencies in Ibiza to world wide tours and sold out arenas we have quite a few world class names on this year’s line up and I have hand selected what I believe is the 5 Must-See acts at Shaky Beats 2019 in downtown Atlanta, GA.

Daniel Goldstein is an American born musician and DJ who has built quite the reputation under his alias, Lane 8. Goldstein always seems to find the perfect mixture of ingredients in his productions. Lane 8 crafts some of the most genuinely soft spoken chord progressions that have the ability to take your breath away while still rattling your soul with free flowing funk basslines. Lane 8 also is known for his ambitions to get back to the old ways of the “DJ vs the Crowd” experience. This means cutting off the outside (social) world in order to be fully engulfed by the hypnotic beats the DJ has chosen for the journey through sound. Lane 8 pushed this idea during his “This Never Happened Tour” where phones and cameras were not allowed on the dance floor. This brought back a temporary peace of mind knowing the crowd now had to connect and feel the vibe with those around them. If you are wondering what to expect from Lane 8’s set, I highly recommend checking out his very own record label This Never Happened as well as the infamous Anjuna DeepI also highly suggest checking out his latest addition to his Seasonal Mixtape series.

Hands down one of the most exciting up and coming names in bass music at the moment, CloZee, is crushing festival after festival and she is showing no signs of slowing down. Chloe Herry, born in Toulouse, France has been making some serious statements the past few years with her gnarly production game and ridiculously vivid live sets. A typical ChloZee set (there’s not two of a kind) will take you down an unforgettable path of tribal drums and grimey bass drops with some of the funkiest beats you’ve ever heard. Oh, I forgot to mention that you might be jamming to some didgeridoo infused dub, yeah you read that right. Expect the unexpected and hold on tight as your tour guide CloZee takes you on a trip through space and back.

Born and raised in the UK, Chris Lake, has achieved been topping charts and crushing some of the world’s biggest parties since most of you (including myself) were in grade school. Lake is an absolute legend and has been releasing tunes on some of the globe’s biggest record labels for over a decade now. The grammy nominated producer has worked with some very familiar names over the years including Green Velvet, Walker & Royce, Anna Lunoe and deadmau5 on multiple occasions. Chris Lake always brings out some hot & fresh beats and will surely do so during the beginning of summer at Shaky Beats.

Mark Richards & James Eliot are a production and DJ duo from Manchester, England and they release music under the moniker, Solardo. Known for their groovy basslines and funky vocals they have been shakin’ dance floors for years. They’ve achieved some serious honors so far as they have released an Essential Mix on Pete Tong’s world famous mix series. They have played across the entire globe including some the USA’s highest quality festivals around like Movement Detroit and EDC Vegas as well scoring a residency alongside Eric Prydz in Ibiza. Solardo has released on Saved, Ultra, Hot Creations and MOOD Records to name a few. They do not require much of an introduction in the house and techno scene as they have proved their ability to conduct a funky groove for hours on end.

Pete Dougherty aka Moon Boots, was born in Brooklyn, New York and quickly made his way into electronic music with early piano lessons and an evolving interest in synthesizers. Dougherty pursued a career in music after opting out of an engineering program in college. His first step on his electronic journey was moving to Chicago to be in one of the largest house music hubs on the planet. A lifelong relationship with the piano has lead his productions to contain a certain vibe that hypnotizes you with a sudden urge to jive. Moon Boots discovered Ajnuadeep after moving back to Brooklyn and I believe the Anjunadeep crew is the perfect fit for him to express himself musically. Moon Boots is one of my most anticipated acts at Shaky Beats, and he surely is not one to miss.
